According to the schedule of the Stock Exchange (WSE), transactions on the stock exchange can be concluded between 8:30 am – 5:05 pm, Monday to Friday. Of course, excluding non-working days.
Below we present the basic phases of a trading session on the WSE:
- 8:30 – 8:45 – “Before opening” – In this phase, orders to buy and sell shares that were placed earlier are accepted. However, they are not yet implemented. Based on these orders, the so-called the theoretical opening price (TKO) of a company’s shares. This price is an indication for investors, it is not binding and the actual opening price may be different.
- 8:45 – “Opening – for futures” – Determining the opening prices for futures.
- 9:00 – “Opening – for shares” – Determining the opening prices for the shares.
- 8:45 – 17:00 – “Continuous trading session” – The so-called proper session during which you can submit and modify buy and sell orders on an ongoing basis.
- 16:50 – 17:00 – “Pre-closing phase” – Last ten minutes of accepting orders. The so-called the phase of accepting orders “for closing”.
- 17:00 – “Closing the session” – Closing the session, pausing trading and setting the closing price.
- 17:00 – 17:05 – “Overtime” – In this phase only orders equal to the closing price can be placed.
