At the time of writing this article, the COVID-19 Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has spread. We decided that you will need a simple recipe for hand disinfectant, which anyone can do on their own, at home, that you will need today and in the future.

The simplest recipe for a homemade hand sanitizer consists of spirit diluted with water. It is important that the final solution has an alcohol concentration of at least 70%. A better solution, however, is to add hydrogen peroxide, glycerin, which has a moisturizing effect and, if possible, also aloe or another fragrance oil that will additionally thicken our liquid.

The ingredients for a simple hand disinfectant are:

  • High-percentage alcohol – e.g. spirit can be used (95%) –
  • Plain water
  • Glycerine
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • You can also add aloe vera in the form of a gel or flesh or other fragrance oil.

The proportions for making a homemade disinfectant are:

  • A glass of spirit
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 drops of hydrogen peroxide
  • 10 drops of glycerin
  • Optionally, aloe oil or other fragrance.

The liquid created in this way can be poured into an atomizer bottle and sprayed on our hands after returning home. We also encourage you to keep such a small bottle in your car or in your purse so that you can easily disinfect your hands after each contact with door handles, handrails and other objects in public space.

Such a liquid can be made in a simple way and it is definitely worth using it not only in the event of an epidemic. It is as effective as liquids available in stores. It will also be an effective solution during periods of greater flu disease, i.e. every fall, winter and spring.
