The weight of an African elephant can reach up to 6,350 kg, i.e. over 6 tons! The average adult African elephant weighs around 5.5 tons. Immediately after birth, a baby elephant of this species weighs about 90 to even 136 kg.
The smaller African elephants are the Asian elephants. The average weight of an adult of this species ranges from 2,300 to 4,900 kg. So also not a little :)
