“Who meets the wild boar in the forest flies quickly to the tree” … and asks himself “How much does the wild boar weigh?” :). These are the words of a popular children’s poem. There is, of course, a lot of truth in it, because meeting a wild boar in the forest is not the most pleasant one. It is also very dangerous for humans, incl. due to the considerable weight of this animal.
Wild boars are the ancestors of the domestic pig. In Polish forests, we can meet a representative of the Eurasian wild boar species. The weight of an adult female wild boar ranges from 35 to 140 kg. Males are heavier and weigh from 54 to even 320 kg.
