How long does elephant pregnancy last? Elephant pregnancy is the longest of all mammals on earth. It lasts for 95 weeks, that is over a year and a half. By comparison, human pregnancy lasts 40 weeks.
Elephants usually give birth to one baby elephant. Twins occur in only 1-2 percent of cases. A newborn baby elephant weighs about 120 kilograms.
